PULSE Journey Week # 1

About PULSE Volunteering Programme
Launched in April 2009, PULSE is GSK’s new initiative that empowers employees to make a significant difference in impoverished communities, at home or abroad. Transformational change can happen when employees use, share and pass on their professional skills and knowledge during a 3 or 6 month immersion experience within a non-profit or non-governmental organization (NGO). Volunteers address a clear NGO need whilst developing their own leadership capabilities.
“There will be a real opportunity and a chance for those people who really feel they want to give something back to society to do that. It is a great chance for our company and the individual to add tremendous value which otherwise
The name PULSE suggests the positive ripple effect that will emanate from the “pulse” of GSK volunteers working within impoverished communities – either in their own country or across the globe. PULSE volunteers will be answering a call to “Be the Change”. In this way, the PULSE programme and volunteers will be catalysts for philanthropic, personal and business benefit and development
GSK has created a range of ways for employees to “Do More” through volunteering and financial support to communities, as shown in the spectrum above. The PULSE programme, represented on the right-hand side of the spectrum, is an intensive option for employees to “Do More” through volunteer partnership with a humanitarian NGO

The one symbol is very important and don’t miss it for praying respect is The Srisaket city pillar shrine (Thai called Lak Muang, and all provinces in Thailand have its similar shrines were built in strategical provinces to symbolize the central power).
On Monday 9, the first day of my assignment I met Teenpath team and my supervisor we had a meeting and provided presentation, materials for workshop on 10-11 August.
On Tuesday and Wednesday 10-11, I had training with the leader network for HIV/AIDS , with parents, and with the representative of Ministry of Public Health we did workshop regarding sexuality youth behavior . We also mobilized and designed how to change communication for adolescent sexual health behavior and how to reduce HIV/AIDS risks.
This workshop we have received more learning and understanding both children and parents, all participants did feedback, some activities we pretended to be children that why we could feeling children side, some parents cried whilst did workshop and their do more understand with their children.
Even 3 days I have been working with NGO team, with the network of HIV, with parents and with the representative from MPH , I was very appreciated with them that they sacrificed working with social and helping other, I touched them what were they feeling with their children, how much of loving and also always willingness for protection their beloved children.
One of my impression, almost parents they are famer they used motorcycle long distance over 100 km round trip, even the weather was hot sometimes raining but they were effort to do this workshop and whilst the workshop they did great participation. I love it that is meant the efficiency communication.

Finance team
